Markus Atmananda struggled with depression for years before discovering meditation in 1999. He began by reading books by spiritual teachers and observing his mind for several hours daily. In 2001, he traveled to India, where he studied yoga philosophy, attended retreats, and learned about the non-dual teachings of Ramana Maharshi and Nisargadatta Maharaj. In 2009 he sought out non-dual teachers, studying with Mooji, Adyashanti, Nukunu, and his guru, Swami Shashwat. From 2016-2017 he lived at an ashram in India as a monk, practicing meditation for many hours daily. Markus now teaches meditation in Sweden, encouraging all his students self-exploration and the discovery of inner stillness.
