Befriending Yourself with Tom & Lalla
Attachment Healing, Presence & Belonging
March 29 – April 2, 2027
Four days of relational & embodied healing, meditation and inquiry in a safe, supportive container – reaching and nourishing the layers where our deepest attachment patterns live.
At the heart of all healing is the felt sense of safety and connection – with yourself, with others, with the world and with spirit. This retreat is an exploration of what this means for you and how to access more of it in your life.
The embodied experience of belonging generally develops in three stages:
- We do practices specifically designed to experience safety and connection. This allows the places inside that may feel unsafe or isolated to start to recognize how safety truly feels, which is a prerequisite for healing and integration.
- We learn to access this felt sense of safety within our own body, unrelated to outer circumstances. We find our own inner secure base.
- We learn to live from this sense of inner security as a resource for meeting and dealing with the challenges in our lives.

This is in essence what is called “secure attachment”, and it is one of the deepest and most meaningful developments that we can engage in on the path to wholeness and aliveness.
Our approach is one of befriending, honoring and respecting rather than trying to push for change. It is an uncomplicated path to wholeness – designed not to transcend your humanity, but to deeply inhabit it. We welcome you to four days of rest, renewal and truly befriending yourself – creating a felt sense of safety in your body and your relational self.
“Attachment is the most important need of a human being, but authenticity is the most important need of the human soul. Healing is finding the place where they are no longer in conflict.”
– Dr. Gabor Maté
“Safety isn’t part of the treatment; it IS the treatment.”
– Dr. Stephen Porges
WHAT happens during the retreat?
Over four days, we move through these themes together in a rich tapestry of modalities for attachment healing and embodied connection, with particular focus on:
- Human Connection: Much of what we carry was shaped in relationship, and can heal in relationship. We explore how early attachment and relational experience shape the way we relate and practice, and what becomes possible when those roots begin to heal.
- Attuned Touch, Movement & Breath: Our non-verbal parts heal through felt experience, breath, movement, and safe, attuned touch. We uncover and gently free old memories and habits – learning to inhabit rather than manage the body. This reaches the places that words alone cannot, freeing up new possibility and aliveness.
- Stillness & Presence: Meditation for Humans is an accessible, grounded approach to meditation and contemplation, working with the nervous system rather than against it. Through guided meditation, inquiry, and relaxation, we uncover resources that nourish us and open the doors to our true nature.
OUR AIM IS FOR YOU TO COME HOME WITH:
- A felt sense of safety – a reliable place inside that you can return to when things get difficult. A simple warmth toward yourself that continues to deepen after the retreat ends.
- A new relationship with the parts of yourself that have been waiting to come home.
- Deeper intimacy – whether in partnership, friendship, or family, many find that their capacity for both connection and authenticity expands.
- Nourishment for your spiritual practice – opening the door to greater depth and enjoyment on your path.
- The lived experience of being genuinely seen and held by others in community.
Who is this retreat for?
Many people who have done years of inner work still carry a quiet ache. Something inside – in the body, in relationships – feels unsettled and is calling for connection. What is often missing is just an acknowledgment of our very human needs for safe, warm holding and connection.
No special background is needed – only a genuine desire to embrace yourself and your life more fully.
Particularly well-suited for:
- Anyone who longs to land in a sense of embodied safety in relationship – with yourself, others and the world
- Spiritual seekers wanting to deepen the somatic or relational dimensions of practice
- Therapists, coaches, and healing practitioners seeking their own deeper integration
FAQ
Do I need experience with meditation, therapy, or bodywork?
It is useful to have some previous experience, but what matters more is a genuine curiosity about your own inner life and a willingness to be with yourself and others in a supportive space.
What is the daily rhythm?
We move gently between guided practices, group sessions, paired exercises, meals, and rest. There is space for integration, walks and self-reflection as well.
Is this therapy or a spiritual retreat?
It is both, and neither in the conventional sense. We are not doing clinical diagnosis or treatment. We are creating a space where psychological healing and contemplative depth can happen together, held by shared presence.
What should I bring?
Comfortable clothes you can move in, layers for warmth, and anything that helps you feel at home. A journal can be useful.
What if touch, or being in a group, feels scary or unfamiliar?
Everything is invitational – you choose your own pace and how far you go in each practice. Nothing is required, and much of the work needs no contact at all. The space is held so that a genuine yes is the only yes – your nervous system gets all the time it needs.
